Country of Origin: South Africa (pre-1994)
We can't stress enough, how "space-aged" the South Africans were in the 1980s! Despite their age, these jackets are still brand new and most remain in their original bags.
Manufactured the ubiquitous South African "Nutria" colour, these bush jackets were intended to be issued specifically to officers and non-commissioned officers with the designation "Warm Coat, Officer's Jacket". The first ones appeared in the late 1980s around the same time as the second pattern Field Dress Jacket, which was designed for more temperate conditions while the bush jacket was intended to be worn in colder conditions.
These 4-pocket bush jackets were well ahead of their time, fully lined, mid-weight, ultra comfy, and a bit baggier for "big guys" or folks who just want to layer up. This awesome heavyweight jacket also features adjustable cuffs. The lining is particularly unique as it seems to be constructed with a odor masking charcoal lining, similar to many Cold War era Nuclear-Biological Chemical Warfare suits, and held in with a uniquely proto-ripstop weave. It provides the wearer with a very effective layer of insulation without overheating the user due to this unique lining. This makes it work exceptionally well in either cold African nights, or brisk Canadian autumns!
Manlets fret not, the jacket also includes external two tightening strings at the bottom for better insulation or for a better fit for you tactical fashionistas. Please take note, that due to the specialized liner, these jackets are dry-clean only.
